We have been working on
using the potty in the 2's Class!
The other teachers and I frequently ask each child if they need to use the potty. If the children decline, we do not force them to try. We like to approach potty training in a relaxed manner and never want to make the children feel stressed about going to the potty.
If you look at your child's daily slip, you will notice that potty times are written down. We use a potty code on the slips to help keep them neat and organized. Below is the cheat sheet for the
potty code.
Potty Code:
D/P: dry and went potty
D/TP: dry and tried potty
D/BM: dry and went poo on the potty
D/RP: dry and refused potty
W/P: wet and went potty
W/TP: wet and tried potty
W/BM: wet and went poo on the potty
W/RP: wet and refused potty
Do not feel discouraged if your child refuses to use the potty at school. We will continue to ask them if they would like to try the potty.
Some children feel more comfortable going potty at home and some children will try the potty anywhere. Potty training is a unique journey and we try to approach it in an individualized manner.
